Auckland, New Zealand</description><title>Elizabeth Iorns, Ph.D.</title><generator>Tumblr (3.0; @elizabethiorns)</generator><link>http://elizabethiorns.com/</link><item><title>About Me</title><description>&lt;p&gt;I am a Scientist dedicated to understanding the causes of breast cancer development and progression.  &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt; My current position is Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Hematology &amp; Oncology at the &lt;a title="Miller School of Medicine Home Page" href="http://www.med.miami.edu/"&gt;University of Miami Miller School of Medicine&lt;/a&gt;. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt; I conducted my doctoral training in Cancer Biology at the &lt;a title="Institute of Cancer Research Home Page" href="http://www.icr.ac.uk/"&gt;Institute of Cancer Research&lt;/a&gt;, London, U.K. under the supervision of &lt;a title="Alan Ashworth Home Page" href="http://www.icr.ac.uk/research/research_profiles/3934.shtml"&gt;Professor Alan Ashworth&lt;/a&gt;, before completing a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Miami under the mentorship of &lt;a title="Marc Lippman Home Page" href="http://www.bcrfcure.org/action_0708grantees_lippman.html"&gt;Professor Marc Lippman&lt;/a&gt;.   &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt; My research focuses on identifying and characterizing genes that regulate breast cancer development and progression using innovative techniques. I hope that doing so will facilitate the translation of this knowledge  into useful therapeutic strategies, reducing breast cancer morbidity and mortality.&lt;/p&gt;
